This sticker is a spin off the old story about “God not piling on more than someone can take,” but there must be a really BIG shovel up there. I don’t know anyone who isn’t carrying an unusually heavy load these days.
Yesterday I commented on the fact we are fortunate to live in a country where we can work our way out of a down situation as free people. So today in hearing that on top of all the impositions the administration feverishly works on to stifle our economic status even further, I question the rationale of invoking a “trade war” with China now, potentially “piling on” even more.

“The prospect of a trade war with China fueled fears of wider fallout Monday, rattling bond markets and prompting many economists to criticize President Obama’s decision to slap import tariffs on Chinese-made tires.
Moreover, economists argued that it would all be for nothing; they said tariffs on Chinese tires would probably boost U.S. imports from countries like Poland and Mexico and do little to help the American steelworkers whose union brought the trade action in the first place.”
This, however, is not the direction of the thought of the day except to take note, but more in fact to bring up the thought of “What do WE want to do about it?,” the plate-load that is. It was great to see the patriots march in DC as mentioned yesterday, but what else can we do to take our own situation better into our own hands? Yesterday’s thought was regarding the individual’s ability to uplift oneself, but what do we want to do? What activities will allow “all boats to rise?”
What can we do in our own communities? And I don’t mean in “Obama’s Army of Service”, I mean productively economically in your community. Having spent nearly 30 years in a small town the phrase “shop locally” was always a big one. I think it fits even in the big cities too in the sense of not everything needs to come from Walmart or Target. Nothing offense oriented to them, just think about what items can be gotten from the local little guy too. The local carwash or car washing fund drive for kids in the community. Yard work or small repairs to your home. Look into the local classifieds and get some ideas there. Go out in front of your home and look both ways. What’s going on out there?
Let’s Pro-act and not just Re-act to the situation at hand.
